“For the Chinese healthcare industry, chain hospitals are the future.”The 20th International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare that lasted for three days was launched in Hong Kong on September 28th. Dr. Christian D. Orejudos of Baijia International Group was invited to the forum and gave a speech.
This event was jointly organized by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and BMJ. Building on 20 years of success, the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare: Asia showcased internationally recognized keynotes and addressed regional needs.
The forum was themed with "Improve, Innovate and Inspire". As the only speaker representing the private high-end women and infants care organizations in China, Dr. Christian D. Orejudos, Chief International Clinical Officer of Baijia International Group analyzed the development of private foreign healthcare organizations in China in the forum.
After analyzing the difference of profit hospitals and non-profit hospitals starting from the healthcare system in China, Dr. Christian D. Orejudos mentioned that in the existing background of Chinese healthcare system, it is impossible for private hospitals to compete with public ones to a larger extent. But as the continuous reform of healthcare policies in recent years and the introduction of Twelfth Five-Year Plan, China encourages the development of private hospitals. Many provinces are rolling out preferential policies on private hospitals. Therefore, the private hospitals and foreign healthcare organizations have gained much more space and support.
“This is our opportunity and best time,” said Dr. Christian D. Orejudos. As the rapid development of Chinese economy, the healthcare market keeps on opening up. The demand on healthcare services is on the rise, and many traditional public hospitals can no longer meet the needs of the people. This is the best time for private and foreign healthcare organizations to develop vigorously.
How the private hospitals seize the development opportunity? According to Dr. Christian D. Orejudos, the correct mode of operation is the key to face this new environment. When there is no oligopoly yet and private hospitals are encouraged to develop in the cities, chain healthcare organizations in their initial stage enjoy vigorous development. He mentioned that the cross-regional chain healthcare organizations can not only reduce operational costs, but also build up healthcare image and form a strong brand effect. The standardization of healthcare services, including streamline of processes, patient-centered care, improvement of healthcare and communication technologies will outshine the organizations in private hospitals.
Therefore, the chain mechanism is one of the best choices of private and foreign healthcare organizations in the current healthcare environment.
As a member of Baijia International Group, a chain organization of women and infants care, Shanghai Baijia Maternity Hospital will witness its grand opening in 2016. Baijia adheres to JCI standards and 3H service concepts and is committed to provide better healthcare experience for women and infants in Shanghai and its surrounding areas.
